bonjour ~

Welcome to the twenties world! I was once told that the twenties are the best years to make an account of precious memories of life, dreams and love–doing so in the most vibrant manner possible.

All about Korea:))

After a long hiatus, i am back! hahas, main reason is because i want to update my trip to Korea during the Summer holiday break, so that i can refer to it again next time. And my blog can act as my memory capsule as well:))

40 over days in Korea have been my best time in the year 2013. Every single day was something different compared to Singapore. I realised that i am a bit heartless as well, since i didn't miss my family as much as i thought i will. Well, at least, i think i did miss them for the 1st week wishing that they could be here as well.On the other hand, i did hope that more of my friends could join us on this trip as well.hahas.
OFF we go from Singapore Airport at 1am to reach KOREA 9 am in the morning! Bye Singapore! Can't believe how energetic i was at that timing when i am usual fast asleep alr.  Many thanks to my 2 friends who came down despite the late timing:)) their pic sadly not with me:(

Finally after the 7 hours of flight, sleeping in a not so comfortable position, but thank goodness only 2 of us in that row:)) WE ARE FINALLY HERE :))))))

We took Korean Air there(~800sgd?) , since we bought the tickets quite late, i think the price was reasonable enough.

/note: the brighter day denotes the arrival of us on the land of S.Korea, it was 9 am in Korea, 1 hour faster than Singapore, Wahahahs. (damn tired, but mentally excited!)

Too excited to the extend that i forgot to take the Limousine Bus that we took to reach our hostel, it was bus 5002. It was really convenient, ~10k won and it is so much cheaper than taxi! Just nice it stops near our hostel, approx 10 mins walk away! It was approx about 1 hour bus ride, with beautiful scenery along the way:)
(not so pretty in this case due to my lousy phone that don't really take moving scene well, many bridges along your way, enjoy them with your eyes:))

/Tips : 1) Always remember to check out which bus you can take and know the korean name (written name(not in english of course, hahas/ spoken if you can speak korean) of the place that you will be going.

2) And back in your home country try to find out the no. of stops before stopping to get a rough estimate, so that you don't panick when reaching Korea, it is still quite depend on Korean till now. These limousine buses usually have a fixed route that they follow unlike the usual bus:) print it if possible

3) Buy the tickets at the ticketing counter before you start finding where the bus are parked ( just outside the airport actually, quite visible)

4) You might want to get your transportation card (aka T-Money), similar to EZ-link at the convenient store in the Airport, or you could wait till getting them in the Subway station, since they have machines there selling. They not only come in card form, even though they are slightly more expensive than card. Approx 2.5k to 5k won depending on the type that you get. They are all valueless, you need to top them up to use!

5) If you are going to go Korea for approx 1 week, you can consider getting citypass, instead, or just use coins, since the transfer rebate might not be worthy for the amt you paid for the card.

Did i mention that it is on the bus that we met our new Singaporean friends from NTU and went Jeju and Busan with them? I think it is all fated, hahas. They were also trying to find out how to walk to our hostel from the bus stop as well! Thank god for meeting them if not lugging the luggage and finding the hostel with uneven slope is no fun:( One of my luggage's wheel was broken as well:(

Here we are finally in the YONSEI!! One of the 3 SKY university in S.Korea, I heard it is prestigious to get in to this Uni in Korea? But apparently not many ppl in Singapore knows about it, hahas, including myself before arriving there. At least not as famous as Korea Uni since the word Korea is in it, just like NUS has Singapore. hahas

Short Background on Yonsei:

Yonsei University (연세대학교 (延世大學校) ) is a private research university located in Seoul, South Korea. Established in 1885, it is one of the oldest universities in South Korea, and is widely regarded as the top private school in the country. In fact, many of South Korea's most influential politicians, lawyers, physicians, engineers, professors, and policy makers have graduated from Yonsei University. (credits to WIKI)

Yonsei University is located near another more famous University--Ewha Womans University (the name is indeed spelt this way) because it is a all women uni in Korea and one of the oldest as well if i am not wrong.

PS: Our 1st day there was mainly spent on trying to find/walk to the Severance Public Health Center (SPHC) to do our Tuberculosis Test, so we treat it as exploring our neighbourhood and exercising! The problem was the SPHC was many many bus stops away, and we nearly die before reaching, cause one of the ppl (public) told us from her phone's map it is very near:(( Did we walk for hours?

(hence the photos are mostly the Unis ,after finishing our check-up and spent the remaining time near the school)

I think we spent more time taking photos in Ewha than in Yonsei, cause it is just too pretty not to. In Singapore it is impossible, i would dare to say , to find Uni with such architecture , all English style and feelings. See the pic below, all girls at the back!
(Actually overview of the bottom pic for Ewha)
How can you not fall in love with the school~
Since this post is getting toooooo long, i think i will just find another to continue the KOREA Trip writeup. No worries i wouldn't be writing about what happened every single day:))

See you soon!
